The third season of Yellowstone concluded with the show’s most horrific twist yet on the Paramount Network last year. Ranch owner John Dutton may be recovering from severe wounds throughout the entire upcoming instalment, leaving cowhand Rip Wheeler in charge of sniffing out the culprits and delivering swift justice.
Loyal ranch hand Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) is predicted to go after revenge against his employers’ attackers in the next season of Yellowstone.
In the latest season finale of Taylor Sheridan’s gripping modern Western, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his family were ambushed by an unknown rival.
With their lives hanging in the balance, it’ll be up to Rip and the rest of his faithful bunkhouse crew to round up the suspects and take out whoever threatened the lives of John, Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes).
However, tracking down the likes of Roarke Morris (Josh Holloway) or Dan Jenkins (Danny Huston) won’t be an easy task, and Rip will need all the muscle he can get his hands on.
A recent theory has suggested Mo (Mo Brings Plenty), the driver and bodyguard of Broken Rock leader Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) could have a much more prominent role next season.
The prediction was recently raised in a Reddit post, as fans wade through the current hiatus ahead of Yellowstone’s return this summer.
User TonySpangs508 wrote: “More Rip and Mo Brings Plenty in season 4. Two absolute UNITS of characters.”
While Rip is tipped to play an even more pivotal part, with the Duttons potentially out of action for some of the upcoming season, Mo has spent most of the series on the sidelines.
Many fans have already recognised Mo and Rip as kindred spirits who could find more in common than they believed possible if they spent more time with one another.
Although John Dutton and Rainwater have remained rivals throughout the series, their two companions are equally loyal and resourceful, and take no prisoners when it comes to dealing with their enemies.
One fan noted: “People keep talking about Rip, but Mo is the Rip of the Native side of the story. What a character, man.”
As an emergent threat has disrupted the balance of Dutton Ranch, Rip and Mo could reluctantly join forces to take down John’s would-be killers.
Plus, there’s still a chance Rip’s fiancé, Beth, won’t make it into the next season alive after an explosive package was delivered to her officer.
Rip’s life could be in tatters at the start of season four, and fans are anticipating the faithful ranch hand to tear a trail of vengeance across Montana to search for his future wife’s attacker.
After his extended role in season four, could Mo and Rainwater become unlikely allies in the ongoing battle for the ranch?
Yellowstone will return with season 4 in 2021 on Paramount and Peacock.
