NCIS fans will be disappointed to learn the show has gone on another hiatus between episodes. Season 18, episode eight will not be airing on Tuesday, February 16 in the usual 9pm slot on CBS. Here’s why this is, when it will be back and what you can expect from the latest outing of the crime procedural.
Why isn’t NCIS on tonight?
While it has only been a few weeks since NCIS was last on hiatus, the show is now taking another break.
This means episode eight will not be airing in its usual Tuesday spot.
However, unlike last time, this is not due to an event like the Super Bowl.
CBS has not given the exact reason for the show not to be airing on the channel.
When will NCIS season 18 be back?
Fans will have to wait a few weeks before the show returns with a new episode.
Entitled True Believer, the latest outing will only be released on March 2.
This is also thought to be a dramatic episode for beloved character Jack Sloane (played by Maria Bello).
The actor was confirmed to be leaving after eight episodes of the latest season so this could be the final goodbye for her.
The synopsis reads: “When Sloane’s name is discovered in Afghanistan at the site of an abandoned bus with a dead driver, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) accompanies her on a trip to find a group of girls who were kidnapped from the bus.
“Also, McGee (Sean Murray), Bishop (Emily Wickersham) and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) track down a hacker who emailed compromising information to the Taliban.”
So far, CBS has not released a trailer for the episode as this will likely only come out closer to its air date.
However, NCIS co-showrunner Frank Cardea did reveal a bit more in a TV Line interview at the end of 2020.
He said: “When we’re trying to figure out how to exit a character, one thing we always ask is: ‘What does that character deserve?’
“And the character of Sloane is a very strong character, and a passionate character, so we’re going to really have her go on something worthy of that.”
NCIS season 18 returns on March 2.
