Kate Garraway took time off from presenting duties on Good Morning Britain earlier this year when her husband Derek Draper was taken to an intensive care unit in hospital and put into an induced coma as he battled coronavirus. While Derek is now recovering, Kate has made a return to the show but today she was absent.
Kate returned to the ITV breakfast show to initially present alongside colleague and friend Ben Shephard.
When Ben went on a short break last week, she hosted alongside Adil Ray.
But today she was notably absent from the show as Charlotte stepped in to take her place.
Her absence didn’t go unnoticed by viewers who rushed to Twitter to ask where the much-loved host was.
Kate detailed how she was keen to donate her blood to Derek in April but was advised by doctors that she couldn’t.
However, blood plasma treatment is now being looked at more closely to help in the fight against coronavirus.
Kate explained: “The blood plasma treatment is too late to help Derek but the idea that we can spread things that are working on this show is wonderful.
“For me doing positive at that point and now is wonderful and something we can all do, those of us who have had the virus, to feel like we’re helping.
