Presenter Bill Turnbull, 65, told his fans he gave the bee a drop of honey and said it is now “ready to go”. But, while he was praised for his act of kindness, many told him he shouldn’t have given the insect honey. The former BBC Breakfast star shared a video of the bee sitting on his finger, in view of his 100,000 followers.
He wrote: “Found this one wet and bedraggled in the pond. Dried her out in the kitchen.
“A drop of honey, and she’s ready to go. Time well spent.”
One fan queried: “Dried her out in the kitchen, what in the oven on a gentle heat or sat in a J cloth?”
He replied: “On my hand. Warmer inside!”
The latter took to Twitter to tell fans he will be moving back to Australia later this year.
He wrote: “I have loved my 25 years with the BBC.
“To work alongside so many colleagues I admire and adore has been one of the great gifts of my life.
“But I’ll be leaving later in the year – returning to Australia, happy, contented and genuinely excited about what’s next.”
