Better Call Saul airs on Netflix and AMC, and the series will be wrapping up soon. The prequel recalls the events prior to the popular Breaking Bad series, and the end of the road will come for Kim Wexler (played by Rhea Seehorn). Showrunner Peter Gould suggested Kim could get caught up in a legal dispute as she cuts corners.
Will Kim Wexler be killed in Better Call Saul?
The one character whose storyline needs to be tied up in the next season is Jimmy McGill’s (Bob Odenkirk) girlfriend Kim.
Fans have been concerned about her character for a long time as they do not know what her fate will be.
Wexler has had run-ins with some of the most dangerous players in the series, including Jimmy’s boss Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton).
Speaking about her character in the next season, Gould told Sony TV’s panel at Deadline’s Contenders Television: “This season, it’s a matter of life and death for sure, and as it comes to a close, it’s a question of where her head is at.
“Is she going down a bad choice road? She keeps moving in a direction of corner-cutting.”
With this in mind, it seems Kim will have to choose between saving her job or protecting Jimmy.
The co-creator said: “Being with Jimmy has shown her, either something that she knew before or it’s made more vivid to her.
“The possibility of cutting corners, doing what you think is right, and causing what you feel is justice, rather than play by the rules of the system. I’m a little bit worried for her.”
Sadly season six is not likely to start filming in 2020 as producers had originally planned.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak filming for the new series will probably start in early 2021.
“What is a very interesting question to me… are we uncovering something that was always there in this person or is this what this person has been driven to become?
“She in fact has been wearing a mask which we have seen the whole time, the way she presents herself at work… there’s an armour to it.
“I’m not sure… if we are looking at someone that was imploding quietly inside all along versus this is who she wanted to be.”
Fans have taken to Twitter to praise the actress for her portrayal of Kim Wexler in the series.
One fan said: “Better Call Saul is way better than Breaking Bad and most of that comes down to Kim Wexler.”
Some have even called for a Better Call Saul spin-off which purely focuses on the life of Kim.
Speaking about the most recent season, one fan said: “If @rheaseehorn doesn’t get the Emmy for this season of @BetterCallSaul I just don’t know.
“That opening scene, everything she says without speaking. Good Lord.”
Seehorn said on SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Conversation At Home that her character had some “menacing” qualities.
She said: “I tried to play some of those moments this year as she just couldn’t suppress any longer, it just comes out.”
